On March 28th, the Xiaomi SU7 was officially launched, marking the debut of Xiaomi in the automotive industry. Positioned as the first model of Xiaomi’s automotive lineup, the SU7 is built on the Xiaomi Modena platform architecture and is categorized as a “C-class high-performance eco-technology sedan.” It offers both dual-motor and single-motor versions, with CLTC pure electric range options of 700 kilometers, 800 kilometers, and 830 kilometers.
Designed by Chief Designer Li Tianyuan, who is notable for being BMW’s first Chinese designer globally, with iconic works including the BMW iX. Exterior design leadership was under Qiu Zhen, a former senior exterior designer at Mercedes-Benz Germany headquarters, known for spearheading the design of the Mercedes EQXX concept car. Shin Muto, a former senior interior designer at BMW, led the interior design, with notable works including the interior of the BMW Z4 sports car and BMW X1.
The Xiaomi SU7’s exterior showcases a low-profile visual effect, featuring design elements such as a 3x wheelbase ratio, 2x wheel height ratio, and a 1.36x width-to-height ratio, which contributes to a lower vehicle center of gravity. Through design elements like a 28-degree front windshield, a 17-degree sleek back posture, pebble-shaped rearview mirrors, and pebble-shaped laser radar, the production car achieves a Cd 0.195 ultra-low wind resistance.
Notably, the SU7’s design includes water-drop-shaped headlights with 12-pixel (single-sided) matrix adaptive headlights supporting ADB functionality. Additionally, it incorporates eight separate automatic matrix adaptive headlights and variable daytime running lights. The front of the car features a silver Xiaomi badge and color-coordinated decorative elements on the front bumper area. The SU7 Max variant also offers a laser radar system, supporting advanced driving assistance features.
The side profile of the Xiaomi SU7 includes concealed door handles and features like plum blossom rims, Michelin PS series high-performance sports tires, Brembo brake calipers, and perforated brake discs, showcasing a strong sporty style. Furthermore, cameras are located below the exterior mirrors and on the front fenders.
The dimensions of the Xiaomi SU7 measure 4997/1963/1440 (1455) millimeters (length/width/height), with a wheelbase of 3000 millimeters, positioning it as a mid-sized to large pure electric sedan. The approach and departure angles are 13 degrees and 16 degrees respectively, with front and rear overhangs of 975 millimeters and 1022 millimeters. The front and rear track widths are 1693 millimeters and 1699 millimeters respectively.
Moving to the rear, the Xiaomi SU7 boasts halo taillights housing 360 super red LED light sources. The rear emblem is in the Pinyin style spelling “Xiaomi,” with a “Beijing Xiaomi” emblem in the bottom left corner. The rear bumper integrates color-matched decorative elements, showcasing a dynamic style. The SU7 Max variant is marked with a red “Max” emblem at the rear.
The SU7 features an electric rear spoiler with four adjustable angles (0 degrees, 5 degrees, 12 degrees, and 25 degrees). At the maximum 25-degree angle, it can provide a maximum downforce of 130 kilograms. Additionally, the SU7 offers a range of exterior colors such as Gulf Blue, Olive Green, Elegant Grey, Aurora Purple, Lava Orange, Pearl White, Diamond Black, Cambrian Grey, and Meteor Blue, with wheel rim options ranging from 19 inches to 21 inches. The SU7 Max variant adopts a front-narrow and rear-wide tire design.
Based on a “human-centric” cabin interaction architecture and powered by the Xiaomi Penglai OS operating system, the Xiaomi SU7 evolves into a mobile intelligent space, offering comprehensive hardware-to-software ecosystem sharing. The cabin is equipped with a 16.1-inch 3K resolution central control screen, a 56-inch HUD, a 7.1-inch flip-up instrument panel, and two native Xiaomi Pad rear expansion screens, all paired with the Snapdragon 8295 cabin chip, delivering 30 TOPS of AI computing power, enabling five-screen linkage.
Moreover, centered around application ecosystems, hardware ecosystems, and Xiaomi CarIoT ecosystems, the Xiaomi SU7 realizes a “human-vehicle-home full ecosystem” loop, deeply integrating mainstream in-car applications into the vehicle’s system, enabling instant pinning of mobile applications to the car, and gradually adapting to share over 1000 Xiaomi smart devices and over 5000 applications.
Internally, the Xiaomi SU7 offers interior color options such as Galaxy Grey, Obsidian Black, Twilight Red, and Misty Purple. Notably, the front trunk volume is 105 liters, while the rear trunk volume is 517 liters. Additionally, the SU7 provides 32 storage compartments throughout the vehicle and 25 speakers.
