Recently, we learned from official sources that the all-new Beijing BJ40 Magic Nuclear Drive Edition will be officially available for pre-sale at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show. As the extended range version of the all-new Beijing BJ40, the car is equipped with a 1.5T range extender. As a reference, the current Beijing BJ40 fuel version adopts a sales strategy of combining old and new models, offering optional 2.0T gasoline/diesel engines and 2.3T gasoline engines.
Based on the actual vehicle images, the appearance of the all-new Beijing BJ40 Magic Power Drive Edition basically continues the styling of the all-new Beijing BJ40 fuel version. The front of the car retains the “five hole grille” style, integrating the headlights, daytime running lights, and air intake grille, creating a more modern visual effect.
Compared to the gasoline version, the all-new Beijing BJ40 Magic Nuclear Drive Edition has added a charging port on the right rear side of the vehicle and a “BJ40e” exclusive logo on the rear, reflecting its identity as a new energy vehicle. In addition, the all-new Beijing BJ40 Magic Power Drive Edition offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, roof luggage rack, electric pedals, and specialized traction devices (electric connectors, towing hook holes).
The interior of the all-new Beijing BJ40 Magic Power Drive Edition adopts the latest family style, with a lot of leather wrapping and stitching treatment inside the car. At the same time, the car retains interior handles located on the A-pillar and B-pillar, and uses a short electronic shift lever design. Below the central control screen, the new car uses traditional air conditioning adjustment buttons.
Referring to the currently available fuel powered models, the all-new Beijing BJ40 Magic Nuclear Drive Edition is expected to be equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, as well as a dual 12.8-inch central control screen and passenger screen, and the car’s infotainment system is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The new car also features a leather steering wheel with four-way electric adjustment, as well as heating and memory functions.
In terms of power, the all-new Beijing BJ40 Magic Nuclear Drive Edition is equipped with a 1.5T range extender model A156T2H provided by Beijing Automotive Powertrain Co., Ltd. The maximum declared power of the range extender is 138 kW, and the maximum power of the front and rear motors are 153 kW and 250 kW respectively. It is reported that the maximum speed of the car is 170 kilometers per hour, and the battery is a nickel cobalt manganese ternary lithium battery.
